The first round of the competition will be a series of regional heats held in January and February 2008. Two judges will watch the students take part in a classical class and perform a variation. The winners of each level will be chosen from each of the Heats to go through to the Final. Candidates must enter the regional heat set for the region in which the reside. There is a £25 entry fee.
20 Finalists, selected from heats taking place across the regions, will compete for the £1,500 prize money and the ‘Young Dancer’ title at the Final in April 2008. They will perform one of the four variations created especially for them by world renowned choreographer Gillian Lynne CBE in front of a live audience including a judging panel of established dance professionals, chaired by Dame Antoinette Sibley.
