Calling all Teachers

Created to re-ignite a passion for ballet amongst young people, the competition aims to give students the opportunity to develop creatively and musically and encourage them to experience the absolute thrill of performing in front of an audience.

Help us to achieve our aim by entering your students and supporting your regional heat; we want every student to leave the stage with teh sound of applause ringing in their ears.

Benefits of competition

  • Recognising talent of your students
  • Providing them with opportunities to perform
  • Raising the profile of your dance school
  • Ensuring the future of British ballet

The Competition

The competition will consist of Regional Heats and a Final.  At both events competitions will be required to participate in a:

  • Non-Syllabus classical class
  • Performance of individual variation

At the core of the competition, teachers are required to teach the variations to their students before they compete in their local heat.  All variations are available on DVD accompanied by Word Notes and Sheet Music.

Variations Pack (Notes & DVD)

The notes have been designed to aid RAD Registered teachers in their learning of the four variations choreographed exclusively for the competition at each level by Gillian Lynne CBE. They provide a detailed step-by-step guide to the choreography, detailing positions, time signatures and the main attributes that dancers should display in conjunction with the steps. In addition, the Benesh Institute has provided Benesh Movement Notation for each of the four variations for further clarification. The variations are the intellectual copyright of Gillian Lynne CBE and as such cannot be performed, used or reproduced outside of the competition.
