The Fonteyn Nureyev competition was really great fun for Claire. The competition gave her a unique opportunity to experience choreography by a famous choreographer, Gillian Lynne, instruction from dancer Phyllida Crowley Smith and to be judged by some of the leading figures in the dance world.

She loved the chance to perform in a wonderful venue like the Lowry Theatre and had a tremendous time meeting and dancing with other young dancers in the competition.

Winning gave her several opportunities including attending summer schools and being in a National Youth Ballet production, wonderful experiences in themselves. Since the competition, Claire has entered full time vocational training at Elmhurst School for Dance in association with The Birmingham Royal Ballet.
